Zakynthos or Zákinthos belongs to the southern Ionian Islands, whose main town is also called Zakynthos. Geographically, we are located directly west of the large Peloponnese peninsula. It was the Venetians who ruled this picturesque island of "Zante" for over 400 years and rightly called it the "Fior di Levante", which roughly translates as the flower of the East. In addition to the beautiful beaches and resorts, the local wildlife also delights tourists.

Right after Corfu, Zakynthos is the most important Ionian island in terms of tourism. It is worth noting that Zakynthos is also particularly popular with loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) for laying their eggs. For this reason, a national marine park was established here in 1999 to protect the nesting sites.
