Tirrenia (in full "Tirrenia - Compagnia italiana di navigazione") is an Italian ferry company based in Naples. Its name is derived from the Tyrrhenian Sea, the main area in which the ships operate. Tirrenia is the parent company of a large association of various Italian regional shipping companies such as Caremar, Saremar, Siremar and Moby Lines.

Tirrenia's main area of business is connections from the Italian mainland to Sardinia. There is also one connection to Sicily and one to the small Tremiti Islands (Isole di Tremiti). The ports of Olbia, Porto Torres and Arbatax on Sardinia are served from Genau and Civitavecchia. From the port of Civitavecchia near Rome and from Naples, there are also services to the island capital of Cagliari in southern Sardinia. There is a further connection from Naples to Palermo in Sicily. Most routes are served once a day throughout the year.

The only connection that is not in the Tyrrhenian Sea is the journey from the port of Termoli on the Italian east coast to the small archipelago of Isole Tremiti. This connection is operated two to three times a day all year round; the arrival is usually the main island of San Domino, on Tuesdays and Thursdays the port of the smaller neighboring island of San Nicola is called at.

Tirrenia currently operates a fleet of seven ships. All are conventional displacement vessels with capacities of between 1400 and 2900 passengers. The cruising speed is quite high at 22 to 26.5 knots, which allows short travel times despite the sometimes considerable distances. The facilities on board include restaurants (some self-service), bars, public telephones, children's areas and some video services. Cabins are available for some passengers. Special services are the "pet cabins", where you can take a pet with you, as well as the in-cabin catering service.
