The shipping company Trasmediterranea

During the Spanish Civil War, some ships were used by the Navy, the company became state-owned in 1978 and was restructured several times in the following years, finally being privatized in 2002. Since 2017, the Spanish shipping company Naviera Armas owns the majority of shares.

The fleet has been constantly adapted over time. In addition to the ferry services, cruises in the western Mediterranean and the adjacent Atlantic area were added to the program, and the cargo ferries were joined by high-speed catamarans and hydrofoils.

The current fleet consists of a total of 29 ships, serving the routes mainland-Canaries, mainland-Balearic Islands, routes within the individual island groups, as well as trips to the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, but also Morocco and the southern Spanish strait at Gibraltar.

The offer is wide, one-way crossing or return ticket, with or without car. In addition to special resident rates, there are group offers, but also combined tickets for bus and ferry can be booked. Here, the bus ticket to major cities such as Madrid, Santander or Seville is booked at the same time from the ferry port.

All ferries have outdoor terraces with swimming pools, bars and restaurants as well as movie theaters. Of course, there is also an on-board store, TV areas and gaming tables.

Children are very welcome on board. Under 2 years old they travel free of charge and only the port fees are charged, children aged 2-13 years pay only half.

Special assistance during embarkation and also on board is given to persons with disabilities. Here, the correct notification of the exact needs is important in advance.

And also the pet can start the journey. Upon presentation of the appropriate documents, the pet receives its own boarding pass and, depending on the ship and size, is transported in its own transport box or in the cage provided.
