The shipping company Porto Santo Line

The Porto Santo Line was founded in 1989 by Grupo Sousa, shortly before the takeover of the shipping company Empresa de Navegação Madeirense (ENM) in 1990. Grupo Sousa, a private Portuguese group of companies, operates other shipping companies in addition to the Porto Santo Line and is active in various sectors such as logistics, energy and tourism. The main motivation for founding the Porto Santo Line was to open up the passenger market between Madeira and Porto Santo.

The main route of the Porto Santo Line is the connection between Funchal, the capital of Madeira, and Porto Santo. The crossing usually takes 2 hours and 15 minutes and the company offers regular schedules to meet the needs of passengers. During the summer months, additional departures may be offered to meet the increased demand.
