The shipping company Eckerö Linjen

The Eckerö Linjen shipping company has been providing a ferry service between Eckerö in Aland and Grisslehamn in Sweden since 1961.

The advantage of this route is that it is much shorter than that of the competitor Viking Line.

Caution: this shipping company is not the similarly named Eckerö Line, which operates between Finland and Estonia.

Connections

The M/S Eckerö operates two to three times daily between Grisslehamn and Eckerö, depending on the season. The journey time is about two hours each time.

The time difference between Finland and Sweden is one hour. This means that when it is 11 o'clock in Sweden, it is already 12 o'clock in Finland.

Price reductions

For children and young people under 18, the trip is free with an accompanying person.

If you use the ride more often, you can save money by buying a season ticket. Depending on the season, this is worthwhile from about 15 to 20 rides.

Transport conditions

Passengers should arrive at the ship for check-in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Pets are allowed on board if they can show an appropriate ID ("dog tag"). In addition, they must be vaccinated against rabies and dewormed by a veterinarian one to two days prior to departure.

In the bars, restaurants and stores on board you can pay with Euros as well as with Swedish Krona.

Smoking is only allowed on the outside decks of the ships.
