The shipping company Bornholmslinjen
Bornholmslinjen is a brand name that the Danish shipping company Molslinjen has been using for its connections to and from Bornholm since 2018. Molslinjen took over these connections from the public company Bornholmstrafikken A/S in 2017 as part of a new tender.
Bornholmslinjen currently operates three services to and from Bornholm. The destination port on Bornholm is always the capital Rönne in the west of the island; Rönne is served from Sassnitz on the German Baltic Sea island of Rügen, from Köge on the Danish island of Zealand, and from Ystad in the extreme south of Sweden.
For German tourists, the connection from Sassnitz on Rügen to Rönne on Bornholm is of particular interest, as this is the shortest and fastest connection from Germany to Bornholm. This route is operated by Bornholmslinjen once a day on weekdays, and twice a day on Saturday and Sunday, with a journey time of 3 hours and 20 minutes.
The route from Rönne to Ystad in Sweden is served by fast ferries all year round, up to eight times a day in summer. Due to the high cruising speed of these ships, the journey time here is only 80 minutes. The longest route of Bornholmslinjen is the route from Rönne to Köge on Zealand, which is operated once a day all year round. The travel time on this route is 5 hours and 30 minutes. Köge is only about 40 kilometers from the Danish capital Copenhagen.
Bornholmslinjen currently maintains a fleet of four vessels, including two conventional ferries and two fast ferries. The latter are used on the main route from Rönne to Ystad. All ferries are equipped with restaurants and cafes. The ferries on the route to Köge also have cabins, but only quad cabins, which can be booked in full or as a single bed in the shared cabin.
