Roscoff Port Information

Roscoff is located in the northwest of France in Brittany. The town, characterized by picturesque coastlines and idyllic landscapes, is located at a point that offers wide access to the English Channel and is therefore a preferred ferry port for travel between France, Ireland and Great Britain. The city has a rich and varied history, characterized by seafaring and trade. The town became particularly famous for the "Onion Johnnies", Breton onion traders who brought their goods as far as Great Britain. These onion traders not only contributed to the economic prosperity of the town, but also shaped the cultural image of Roscoff. Roscoff has many sights to offer. The Notre Dame de Croaz Batz church is an impressive building from the 16th century that combines Renaissance and Gothic elements. The Jardin Exotique de Roscoff delights with a variety of exotic plants and offers impressive views of the surrounding coastal landscape. It is also worth visiting the Maison des Johnnies, which documents the history of the "Onion Johnnies" and their importance to the town. The ferry port of Roscoff is a central point of the town and of great economic and tourist importance. From here, Brittany Ferries operates regular services to the UK and Ireland, and the port is an important transhipment point for agricultural produce from Brittany. The ferry port has stimulated the town's economy and is an important employer for the inhabitants of Roscoff.
