Langeoog Port Information
Tickets
Tickets cannot currently be purchased online. However, they can be sent home up to four weeks before the start of the journey via a so-called pre-order. A specific connection must be booked at the terminal at the latest. Tickets can also be purchased at the ticket counter.
Arrival by train
It is possible to travel by train via Esens or Norden station. From there, buses take passengers to the port of Bensersiel in approx. 15 minutes. There are direct bus connections from Aurich and Leer. A train journey can be booked directly to Langeoog.
Parking at the ferry terminal
As Langeoog is car-free, vehicles must remain on the mainland. There are plenty of parking spaces available at the port of Bensersiel where cars can be parked. The further away from the terminal the car is parked, the cheaper the parking spaces are.
Luggage
If you leave your luggage at the ferry terminal, you don't need to worry about it until you arrive in the island town. After the ferry crossing, it is loaded onto the island train and returned to the station. From here, it can even be taken to your accommodation.
Hand luggage is included in the price of the ferry, other luggage as well as bicycles, dogs and surfboards must be paid for separately.
From the island harbor to the village
The colorful island train is waiting at the ferry dock to take guests to the town. The ride is included in the ticket. Horse-drawn carriages are also available at the harbor to take guests directly to their accommodation.
LangeoogCard
The LangeoogCard is valid as a travel ticket, guest card and beach chair card and can be ordered online up to four weeks before departure. Rail travelers who have booked a trip to Langeoog will receive the card at the ferry house.
The island of Langeoog
Langeoog, one of the East Frisian islands, impresses with its unique atmosphere and untouched nature. The 14-kilometer long, untouched sandy beach stretches into infinity without groynes or breakwaters and offers even more expanse at low tide. The small, car-free town center, surrounded by high dunes, conveys a quiet, relaxed atmosphere where bicycles and horse-drawn carriages dominate.
Langeoog lies in the middle of the East Frisian Islands and has a mild, balanced climate thanks to the influence of the Gulf Stream. The island is long and narrow - about 20 kilometers long, but only one kilometer wide at its narrowest point. Only 5% of the island is built on, the rest is nature. The dunes, which are up to 20 meters high, protect the island, so there is no need for coastal protection structures.
Langeoog is a paradise for nature lovers. In addition to the beach, the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site impresses with its unique flora and fauna. Mudflat walks are a special experience, but only with a mudflat guide.
The island is also a recognized thalassotherapy spa that uses seawater and salty air for therapies. The spa and wellness center has a seawater wave pool, saunas and a wide range of wellness offers. Long walks on the beach promote health and relaxation.
Langeoog offers numerous opportunities for hiking and cycling tours, e.g. to the eastern tip of the island with the seal banks or to the south-western end. The island is attractive at any time of year, especially in spring and fall, when nature shines in all its glory. You can reach the island via the Esens-Bensersiel ferry port, from where a ferry and a tourist train take visitors to the center of the island.
