Juist Port Information
Crossing with the ferry
Reservations must be made for the crossing. Tickets can be booked online or, if available, purchased at the ticket counter on the day of departure.
Hand luggage may be carried on the crossing. All other luggage must be handed in to the staff at the luggage container before departure. This will be returned to you on arrival on the island.
Crossing with the island express
The crossing with the island express is much faster than by ferry. With the small boats of the Cassen-Tours shipping company, which can accommodate up to eleven passengers per trip, the journey only takes 45 minutes.
The boats depart from the Norderney terminal in the port of Norddeich. Tickets must be reserved online in advance or can also be purchased at the ticket counter or on board, depending on availability. One piece of luggage per guest is transported free of charge. A train ticket booked to Juist is not valid for the island express.
By train to Norddeich-Mole
Deutsche Bahn trains run to Norddeich-Mole and thus to the ferry terminal. Train tickets can be booked directly to Juist, a ferry ticket then no longer needs to be purchased. Rail travelers receive the necessary spa card when leaving the ship.
Parking facilities in the port of Norddeich
There are three parking spaces to choose from in the harbor. Two of them are located directly at the jetty, the third is a little further into town (P3). Some of the parking spaces are equipped with video surveillance and a parking space can be booked before departure. If you don't want to lug your luggage from your car to the pier, you can use the shuttle bus between the parking lot and the pier for one euro. In addition to these parking spaces provided by the shipping company, other providers also offer parking space where the car can be parked in a hall, for example.
From the island harbor to the town
The main town on the island of Juist is around one kilometer from the port and is therefore easy to reach on foot. If you rent accommodation in the Koog district, you will have to walk two kilometers. A more comfortable way to travel is by horse-drawn bus or cab, which are already waiting in the harbor to take vacation guests to their accommodation.
Töwerkart
The Töwerkart is the card with which many things are regulated during a vacation on Juist. It is a ferry ticket, guest card and gives you access to the beach. This card is also used to pay the guest contribution. It is available from the ticket office in Norddeich. Rail travelers who have booked a trip to Juist can get it at the ticket counter on Juist.
The island of Juist
Juist, a North Sea island with white sandy beaches and idyllic dune landscapes, offers pure relaxation in the tranquil districts of Ostdorf, Westdorf and Loog. Known as "Töwerland" (Magic Land), the car-free island is the longest of the East Frisian Islands at 17 kilometers and impresses with its clean air and tranquility.
Arrival is via the Norddeich-Mole ferry port, from where you can reach the island by ferry in 90 minutes. Cars are not allowed on Juist, instead bicycles or horse-drawn carts are used for transportation and getting around.
Juist has a maritime climate all year round. The best time to visit is from June to September, but autumn storms and mild winters also offer special experiences. Weatherproof clothing is recommended at any time of year.
One highlight is the Wadden Sea National Park, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walks, mudflat hikes and the Juist National Park House offer insights into the unique flora and fauna.
The island's main town is a center for cultural activities such as spa concerts and the East Frisian tea ceremony. Attractions such as the Domäne Loog, the Hammersee and the seal banks offer plenty of variety.
Juist is ideal for a family vacation with a gently sloping beach and a wide range of leisure activities. Cyclists and hikers will find a paradise here with well-signposted paths through the dunes and along the coast. Carriage rides and boat trips to the seal banks and the neighboring islands round off the varied offer.
