Havneby is located at the southern tip of the Danish island of Rømø and serves as the departure and arrival port for the FRS Sylt ferries. The port is directly connected to the mainland via a causeway, making it easy to get to. It plays an important role in traffic between Denmark and the German island of Sylt.
