Borkum Port Information
Emden-Borkum crossing
The ferry from Emden runs twice a day on average and takes a good two hours to take guests to the island. By catamaran, the crossing only takes 50 minutes, but is significantly more expensive.
The so-called Borkumanleger in Emden's outer harbour is around four kilometers from the city centre. Buses and trains take passengers from the main train station to the ferry terminal. If you don't take your car with you to the island, you can park it in one of the parking lots at the port.

Reservations are recommended for trips with vehicles and for the catamaran, especially in summer.
Crossing Eemshaven (NL)-Borkum
The ferry from Eemshaven runs on average four times a day and is a good alternative to the crossing from Emden, as the journey only takes 50 minutes. There are plenty of parking spaces to park your vehicle during your stay on the island. Covered parking spaces are also available.
From the island harbor to the town
Regardless of which connection has brought guests to the island, the island train is waiting in the harbor to take passengers to the island's main town in 15 minutes. Luggage is also collected there or taken directly to the accommodation by a luggage service.
The island of Borkum
The North Sea island of Borkum is a popular vacation destination with a maritime tradition and is one of the East Frisian Islands. It can be reached by ferry from the German mainland via Emden and from the Netherlands via Eemshaven. Borkum has been a town in the district of Leer since the mid-1950s and is located in the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island is a state-approved North Sea spa with around 5,000 inhabitants and many visitors, especially in the summer months.
You can travel to Borkum either by plane or by ferry from Emden. There is a historic island railroad on the island that takes visitors to the town center. The beaches on Borkum offer something for everyone: Nordstrand, Südstrand, FKK-Strand and Jugendstrand are guarded and supervised beaches.
