Amrum Port Information
Amrum is part of North Frisia and is primarily known for its natural beauty. This includes a picturesque mixture of heathland, small forests, meadows, a seemingly endless beach and an offshore sandbank with seals. The main town of the island community, which has a population of 2,279, bears the illustrious name of Nebel. There are special places to visit, including the Amrum lighthouse - the largest on the German North Sea coast. If you are interested in the island's history, you will not only find beautiful listed houses, but also historical evidence from the Viking Age. A special feature of the island are the so-called talking gravestones, which have been elaborately engraved with quotations and Bible verses.
