Mariehamn is the capital of the Åland Islands, an autonomous Swedish-speaking region of Finland. The city is located on the main island of Fasta Åland and was founded in 1861.
The port of Mariehamn is an important transportation hub in the Baltic Sea region and consists of two main parts: the West Harbour and the East Harbour. The western harbor is mainly used for shipping and is a berth for ferries to Sweden and Finland. The eastern harbor, on the other hand, is mainly used for pleasure craft and fishing.
