The island of Marettimo is located in the Mediterranean and is part of the province of Trapani. It is the second largest of the Aegadian Islands and also the westernmost point of Sicily. The car-free island is a true natural jewel that captivates visitors with its unique landscape full of rugged coastlines and caves. Throughout history, the island has been inhabited by various peoples since Roman times. This is reflected in the buildings that have been preserved to this day. In the east is the Casa Romana, a fortification from Roman times. The Norman fortress Castello di Punta Troia can be visited in the north-eastern part of the island.
