Located roughly halfway between Split and Dubrovnik, Korčula is the sixth largest island in the Adriatic and the most densely populated of all the Croatian islands. Korčula has always been one of the country's most popular vacation islands. Perfect sailing conditions, picturesque beaches, unspoiled nature and an excellent infrastructure contribute greatly to the island's popularity. Above all, however, the beauty of the main town of the same name attracts thousands of tourists every year. Korčula is often referred to as "Little Dubrovnik" due to its beautiful location on a small peninsula, its impressive city walls and its numerous historic buildings. Incidentally, the birthplace of the legendary explorer Marco Polo can also be visited here.
