The ferry port on the island of Iraklia offers connections to the 7 other Greek islands of Paros, Schinoussa, Amorgos, Naxos, Iraklia, Koufonissi and Donoussa as well as to the ferry port of Piraeus on the Greek mainland. A total of 9 routes are offered several times a day by the shipping companies Blue Star Ferries and Small Cyclades Lines.

Iraklia is part of the Small Cyclades and although it is the largest island, it is the least populated, with two quiet settlements and a predominantly mountainous area. The only road on the island starts in Agios Georgios, passes through Livadi beach (the most beautiful beach on Iraklia), continues to Panagia and ends in the bay of Turkopigado with a pebble beach.
