Helsinki has several ferry terminals

Hansa Terminal, Helsinki Vuosaari

The Hansa Terminal is the passenger terminal of the Port of Vuosaari in the east of the city and serves passenger traffic from Helsinki to Travemünde. It is located at Gate B of the Port of Vuosaari.

Accessibility:

  • By car: The terminal is easily accessible via the main roads.
  • By public transportation: You can reach the port by taking the metro to the Vuosaari terminus and then changing to bus 90 or 90A.
  • From the airport: From the airport you can take the train to the central station and change to the metro there.

Katajanokka Terminal

Katajanokka Terminal is located near the city center on the island of Katajanokka, about 2 km from the central station. Viking Line operates ferry services from here to Tallinn and Stockholm.

Accessibility:

  • On foot: About 20 minutes from the main train station.
  • By public transport: Tram lines 4 and 5 bring travelers close to the terminal.
  • By car: There are parking facilities at the terminal, but the approach through the city center may be busy.

Western harbor of Helsinki

The Western Harbour is located southwest of Helsinki city center. It has two modern terminals. Ferries operated by Tallink-Silja and Eckerö Linien sail from Terminal 2 to Tallinn.

Accessibility:

  • By public transport: Tram lines 7 and 9 connect the terminals with the city center, the main train station and Kamppi bus station.
  • On foot: Both terminals are about 40 to 45 minutes' walk from the main railway station.
  • By car: There are parking lots at the terminals; access is via the city's main traffic arteries.

Olympia Terminal

The Olympic Terminal in Helsinki's South Harbour was opened for the 1952 Olympic Games and is now the main port of call for Silja Line ferries to Stockholm. The historic terminal is used by more than 1.5 million passengers a year and offers amenities such as currency exchange, ATMs and a café.

Accessibility:

  • Public transportation: The terminal is easily accessible by streetcar lines 2 and 3.
  • On foot: Easy to reach from the city center.
  • By car: Parking available, but often overcrowded in the city center.
