Filicudi is the oldest of the Aeolian sister islands. With its three volcanoes, it lies in the west of the group. Monte Fossa delle Felci, Lavadom Monte Montagnola and Torrione are inactive and can be visited. From Monte Fossa delle Felci you can see as far as Sicily. The island is largely uninhabited. Only around 100 people live here in the old port of Pecorini, in Valdichiesa and on the southern slope. The aroma of herbs, oleander and broom hangs in the air.
The special thing about Filicudi is its numerous caves. According to legend, many different mythical creatures live here. In the midday heat of the Mediterranean sun, you may be able to see them for yourself.
