Jersey is one of the Channel Islands in the English Channel between England and France. As a British Crown Estate, it has its own government and enjoys extensive autonomy. The capital of Jersey is Saint Helier, where the island's main ferry port is located. There are ferry connections mainly to the neighboring Channel Islands such as Guernsey and Alderney as well as to Great Britain and France. The most important routes run from Saint Helier to Saint-Malo (France), Portsmouth and Poole (both England) and St. Peter Port (Guernsey).
