Fehmarn is a German island in the Baltic Sea that is connected to the mainland by the Fehmarnsund Bridge and is therefore easy to reach by car or train. The most important ferry port is Puttgarden in the north of the island, which connects Germany with Denmark. The journey from Puttgarden across the Fehmarnbelt to Rødby takes just 45 minutes and is part of the so-called Vogelfluglinie between Hamburg and Copenhagen.
