The Eckerö Linjen shipping company has been operating a ferry service between Eckerö in Aland and Grisslehamn in Sweden since 1961.

The advantage of this route is that it is considerably shorter than that of its competitor Viking Line.

Caution: This shipping company is not the similarly named Eckerö Line, which operates between Finland and Estonia.

Connections

The M/S Eckerö sails two to three times a day between Grisslehamn and Eckerö, depending on the season. The journey takes around two hours each time.

The time difference between Finland and Sweden is one hour. This means that when it is 11 o'clock in Sweden, it is already 12 o'clock in Finland.

Discounts

Children and young people under the age of 18 can travel free of charge with an accompanying person.

If you use the ride more often, you can save money by buying a season ticket. Depending on the season, this pays off from around 15 to 20 trips.

Transportation conditions

Passengers should arrive at the boat for check-in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Pets are allowed on board if they can show an appropriate ID ("dog tag"). In addition, they must have been vaccinated against rabies and dewormed by a veterinarian one to two days before departure.

In the bars, restaurants and stores on board, payment can be made in euros as well as Swedish kronor.

Smoking is only permitted on the outside decks of the ships.
